About John Turner
John Turner was born in the town of Estcourt on the 9th June 1960. He grew up in the Natal Midlands and went to Drakensview Primary School, Winterton Primary School and matriculated at Estcourt High School in 1977.
During his school years, John excelled in sport and some of the highlights were representing Natal at swimming and captaining the Natal Schools team in 1977. He was also Head Boy of the school in the same year.
He completed a BA (PHYS ED ) HDE at Rhodes University and attended Infantry School in Oudtshoorn , graduating as an officer and becoming 2 I.C. Charlie Company at 121 Battalion IN Matubatuba.
After teaching history and Physical Education at Brettonwood High School for a few years, John entered the Hotel industry and ended up managing a number of hotels around the country, including Cathedral Peak, Badplaas, Knysna Lodge and Champagne Sports Resort.
After 30 years in the industry John has decided to follow his passion, and share this magnificent country with both local and foreign guests. His love of Photography, History, Wildlife and Landscapes of South Africa , has drawn him into this new and exciting direction. His extensive knowledge and experiences, having traversed a changing country over many years, will keep you enthralled for hours.
